We are a group of friends and choral scholars from Cambridge, UK, who would like to raise money to help support the invaluable and pioneering research of Cancer Research UK, and in particular their contribution towards the treatment of brain tumours. We have witnessed the results of their excellent research first-hand, as in the last year two people close to members of the choir have undergone treatment for brain tumours; a 21-year-old fellow student from Trinity College, Cambridge and a godmother to a member of the group. We would like to raise as much money as possible to support this vital cause.
Over 9,400 people in the UK are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year (Source: Cancer Research UK). We hope that with your support, we can help contribute towards improving pioneering treatment methods, with a view to drastically improving survival statistics for our loved ones. We have already witnessed the work of Cancer Research UK first hand, and it is already having a major impact in enabling our loved ones to have the latest pioneering treatments.
In October 2016, we set ourselves a target of raising £4000 by January 2018. We organised two Epiphany Carol concerts in the Leicestershire and Rutland area in January 2017, through which we raised over £2000. We then performed in Magdalen College Chapel, Oxford, and the Church of St Cross, Winchester in September 2017, raising a further £2850. Subsequent concerts in Cambridge, Leicestershire and Rutland helped us reach a total of £8000 raised for the charity. We are excited about more projects to come and do hope that you can support us!
The choir is composed of Choral Scholars at Cambridge University. Within their respective college choirs, they have been fortunate to be a part of professional CD recordings and tour all over the world, with recent trips to Australia, America, Hong Kong and Germany.
